The 5th Annual Convention of the CT-MRI Society of the Philippines was held last October 12-13, 2002 at the CME Auditorium at the Medicine Building of the University of Santo Tomas. Aside from being an annual membership meeting of the CT-MRI Society of the Philippines, the convention featured scientific sessions designed to help radiologist and clinicians evaluate the imaging features, radiologic staging as well as a post therapeutic assessment of the cancers of the different systems.
Dr. Rafael Joson started Day one of the scientific sessions with an interesting discussion of “Advanced Imaging in Brain Tumors”. He was followed up by Dr. Jonas Francisco Santiago with his Informative “Positron Emission Tomography” Dr. Vincent F.H. Chong the Society’s invited discussant from Singapore, delivered his lecture on “Cervical Nodes: What Radiologists Should Know”, “Head and Neck: Post Theraoeutic Complications” and Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: Imaging Issues” which were remarkable for their simplicity and clarity.
The seconda Day saw Dr. Ramon Santos-Ocampo talking on “Bronchogenic Carcinoma” while “Hepatocellular Carcinoma was presented by Dr, Pedro Danilo Lagamayo. After a short coffee break, Dr. Rosanna Fragante tackled “Urinary Tract Neoplasm” , Dr. Manuel Mejia Jr. closed the lecture series with this presentation of “Pelvic (Gynecologic) Tumors”. Dr. Jocelyn Cuyos and Dr. Ann Margaret Salamat served as moderators.
It was a well attended affair, thanks to the efforts of this year’s organizing committee composed of Dr. Ruben Carreon, Dr. Benigno Santi II, Dr. Ann Margaret Salamat, Dr. Francis Villanueva, Dr. Ronald Cervantes, Dr. Arnaldo Tantoco and Dr. Ma. Cartrini Cruz. Dr. Manuel Mejia Jr. and Dr. Cecilia Villamor served as advisers to the committee.
